A New Page on My Blog

You may have noticed that my blog is sporting a new page–Digital Scrapbooking Resources. I have decided that I will not be doing Freebie Fridays any more and that I’ll be posting resources I find on this new page instead. I plan to continually update it with resources that I find. I hope that you will find it useful. You can consider it as a valuable starting point when looking for items to supplement your scrapbooking habits. If you know of a site that I don’t have linked, feel free to leave me a comment and I’ll check it out.

If I do run across something I think you’ve just got to have, I’ll highlight it in a blog post.

A New Challenge

I just signed up to participate in a new scrap challenge. It sounds really fun. It is based on the TV show Survivor, one of the shows I watch every season, so it jumped out at me right away. There will be weekly reward and immunity challenges and people get voted off every week. The theme is Outlast, Outcrop, Outscrap. I just hope I can keep up with it! If you want to sign up, click on the blinkie to take you there.

It’s a Freebie Friday!

Happy 4th of July to everyone! I hope you’re finding a way to stay out of the heat and yet enjoy the celebration of our nation’s independence. I love America!

Below are some freebies I’ve found for you this week. I hope you find some extra time this holiday weekend to do some scrappin’!

The first is a theme celebrating the men in our lives called “My Favorite Guy”. It’s actually a blog train, which means a large number of bloggers have contributed to it. It will take awhile to download everything. I’m only giving you a preview of four of the many pieces of the kit.

Next is a new kit from Digital-Crea. It’s already been on their site for a few days, so if you want it, you should hurry before it’s gone.

My favorite template designer has another new one. Be sure to head to Yin’s blog to get the great double page template shown here:

And, finally, here’s a great alpha you can use for your July 4th layouts:

It’s a Freebie Friday! (I know, it’s been awhile…)

I realize it’s been quite a few weeks since I posted a list of freebies for you. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the end of the school year was extremely busy for me, and unfortunately, once school was out, I still had quite a bit more to do to close out the year. I went back the following week for five days straight, hoping to complete everything, but couldn’t quite get there. Then I went again yesterday thinking another day would do it, and found myself at the end of it still lacking a few things. I’ll have to pop back in next week for a half day to get done. Anyway, hopefully this little list of freebies will make up for me not posting anything lately.

First of all, here is the latest offering from Digital-Crea. The preview shows a kit that has already been up for a few days, so it’s possible that when you get there, you’ll see something different. The image is linked to the complete kit page, and the first item is always free, so if it’s a different kit than the preview shows, it will still be something worth getting.

Vicki has a cute collab kit she created along with Charlie. Vicki’s portion is shown in the first preview and Charlie’s in the second. When you click on Vicki’s link, you’ll be taken to the blog page for her collab kits, and there are several of them listed that are still available for download.

Father’s Day just passed, and if you want to scrapbook the photos you took that day, here’s a great kit from Summer Driggs called Fathers and Fedoras. Isn’t it great?

I found another great source of templates at ScrappingwithLiz.com. She frequently posts new templates, so if you enjoy building your pages using this technique, visit her blog often. The image below is her newest freebie:

As always, if you download, take a moment to leave some love in the form of a comment for the creator of these great freebies. Happy Scrappin’!

Insanely Busy!

I’ve been insanely busy lately. School just ended (for the students) last Friday, and I was swamped the last few weeks trying to end the year. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I haven’t been posting anything lately. I started teaching the summer session of my adult school digital scrapbooking class last night. If any of my new students are checking my blog, be aware that very soon I’ll actually be up to normal blog posting capacity. Please be patient! I’m wrapping things up at school this week, and hopefully I’ll have a nice freebie post for you on Friday.

It’s a Freebie Friday!–Sorry it’s a little late

I have a short post, but it’s packed with good things! The folks at Digi Scrap Addicts are having a design contest called “So You Think You Can Design”. There are a huge number of participants and two weeks’ worth of kits have been posted so far. I spent quite awhile downloading last night. There are so many wonderful ones to choose from! The first link will take you to the Week 1 entries and the second link will take you to the Week 2 entries. Week 2 is especially awesome because the creators were required to include elements for Project 365. You’ll need to join the forum as a member in order to download, but it’s well worth the few moments it takes to do so. Below the links are just a sampling of the kit previews that are available.

My Newest Kit is a Collab with Vicky Day

This week’s design challenge through Brownie Scraps was to create a collab kit. I was paired with Vicky Day and she provided a great background paper we used as color inspiration. We decided to go with a spring theme of some kind. Vicky was able to get a jump on creating her part of the kit before me and came up with some awesome elements that were garden-related, so we decided to go with a garden theme. For my contribution, I took a ton of photos of yard things around my house and extracted them as elements. It was a fabulous learning experience, and I hope you’ll enjoy using the kit for your spring layouts. Click on the preview to take you to Brownie Scraps for all of the download links. The preview for my part of the collab is below the collab preview, and the links to my part are below that.

Click here to visit Vicki’s blog. She is a very talented designer who has done some beautiful kits during the Brownie Scraps Design Challenge. It was a lot of fun to be paired with her and through the course of the week, I think we both learned a lot and really stretched ourselves as designers. I’m pretty proud of our collaborative effort. Be sure to leave her some love on her blog, especially if you download her portion of the kit!
